So what do you think about first thing in the morning?

Among the myriad of first fruit thoughts this morning, I found myself distracted by the previous nights season two opener of Luther. How had Luther ended up living in a high rise council flat? Why didnt Luther have curtains and if I lived in a high rise council flat pretty much anywhere would I have curtains. After all, as Dorothy would say "there's no place like home", even if home is Kansas or indeed a high rise version of the aforementioned city that somehow needs to be added to the ever increasing "bucket list" of cities I have yet to see before the last grain passes through life's egg timer.
The gentle hiss of my pre breakfast energy drink tin being opened did nothing to distract these meandering thoughts. With Dorothy looming large in the space between my ears, I recalled the time my mother took me to see the Wizard of Oz at the now defunct Curzon cinema in St Leonards, most of which I missed having been traumatised by not the flying monkeys or indeed the wicked witch of the west, but by the munch-kins. The munch-kins thus began a life long pre occupation  both good and bad, with the genre of film and the cameo of the midget. Despite a faltering start and the inability to see Ms Garlands finest for many years after, I realised at the opening credits of my day that some of my finest movie viewing moments have little people making this a big big world. To share them all with you now would keep my fingers typing for many many hours, however, I cannot close this post without doffing the old cloth cap to those who have raised a smile or indeed raised the bar of my viewing pleasure. Who can forget the industrious Oompa Loompa's from the original, and clearly the finest, rendition of Willy Wonka. Other midget highlights would include Tattoo from Fantasy Island with Dr Evils mini mirror image in the form of Mini Me running slightly ahead on his little old legs. However, possibly my all time favourite would be the midget from the masterpiece that is In Bruges. Perhaps not everyones favourite movie with a Mrs W warning for the use of language, albeit I would submit contextual, but classic architecture and one big big performance by one little person......... so, what do you think about first thing in the morning?
